Watson Marlow pumps are the worlds leading peristaltic pump manufacturer. Working within the product development department my role was to develop the current products and cultivate new solutions for business opportunities.
In the specialist pump market I became more involved in identifying market opportunities, site visits, customer surveys and product trials. Using the gleaned information to evaluate the market place and influence the physical design and costing of the product.
Working to strict ISO9001 standards, the projects encompassed conceptual sketches, prototyping and presentation of ideas, mechanical design solutions, production drawings and manufacturing systems. The projects required extensive research and involved liaising with design, manufacturing, marketing, clients and other external resources. Throughout I gained valuable experience of design principles, manufacturing techniques and management practice, greatly broadening my business experience.
I was key in the introduction of new IT facilities, software and digital processes to accelerate and make product development more efficient and flexible.
